Communities large and small have need of sound legal advice, whether they are planning for the future by making changes to the zoning ordinance or pursuing financing strategies for redevelopment.  During this tough economic season, cities and counties have a chance to study up on the legal foundations and consequences of planning actions and tools.

From the legal relationship between the zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan to the process of creating a tax allocation district, elected and appointed officials as well as planning and economic development staff can benefit from the experience of local attorneys who have specific knowledge of these tools and issues and how to navigate them successfully.

The objective of this course is to transmit an understanding of key legal concepts related to planning and redevelopment.  Participants will come away with a clearer understanding on planning and land use law.
